All That Noise

I wouldn't call this album a lost classic however I would call it a hidden treasure for those who have only scratched the surface of the early 90's Brit Pop movement. The Darkside's All That Noise was released in 1990. With the baggy movement in full effect It never really had any commercial success at the time possibly due to it's darker psychedelic side. It did however have a groove that was right on with the times. This album has a big outer space sound yet not quite shoegaze. Track nine, Soul Deep is a ripping jam that really defines the Darkside's blues side. On some of the slower tracks you really have a dreamy sound similar the The Verve's, Storm In Heaven or even The Inspiral Carpets, Beast Inside. Their second Lp Melomania like it's predecessor has a heavy valium sound with crunchy guitars, Hammond organs and big grooving melodies. This is a fantastic band that should be part of your record collection.

Other releases by The Darkside:
Melomania. Lp
Mayhem To Meditate. B sides and Mixes of Mystic Morning
Pete Bassman's new band. Alphastone
